Is IMAP dead?
Sometime ago I got frustrated with slow IMAP syncing of large email stores. With providers like Gmail offering well over 2GB of storage, IMAP no longer makes sense. With that said, SENDING mail via desktop clients like Outlook or Mac Mail is a lot easier than using a web client, especially with attachments.
My solution has been to use the GMAIL web client to read mail, and Mac Mail to send. I set up the Mac with GMAIL via POP (not IMAP) and tell it NO to check for mail. I’ve found this to be a best of breed solution. Let me know what you think?
